Management

Scott J. Smith

Scott Smith is the founder and CEO of Socrates Health Solutions. In this role, Smith has secured investment capital, recruited a world class Board of Directors, and attracted a stellar executive team. Building on 25+ years of healthcare technology experience, he has driven the development of Socrates’ proprietary technology solutions for non-invasive glucose monitoring, including research and development, international patent filings and approvals, and collaboration with global companies. Scott’s father had Type 1 Diabetes.

Valentin Korman Ph.D.

Val is the Vice President of Research at Socrates, his educational background has included study and research in astrophysics, applied physics and optical science and engineering. His academic research has covered theoretical modeling of high energy physical systems as well as high-precision instrumentation and measurement experiments. During his 18 years in NASA and industry he has led research and development efforts for instrumentation and sensor development in various challenging environments ranging from cryogenic fluids to high temperature combustion systems.

John Maynard

John is a Special Advisor at Socrates, he has more than 25 years of experience developing and commercializing noninvasive medical diagnostic devices based on visible, fluorescence, near infrared, Raman, and infrared imaging and spectroscopy. He has an active consulting practice in U.S. and international medical device product development, clinical trials, regulatory affairs, quality management systems, product management and business development.

Sharon Gregory

Sharon is the Vice President of Operations at Socrates. In this role Sharon has been responsible for all operational facets of the company including investor relations, legal counsel liaison, financial controls, 3rdparty contracts, oversight of bookkeeping and audit, pay and benefits, and infrastructure.

Board of Directors

Douglas Sutherland – Chairman of the Board of Directors

Douglas Sutherland is an American citizen who has lived in Luxembourg since moving there from the Silicon Valley in 1986. Since 2010, Douglas has been the Non-Executive Chairman of IWG plc (formerly Regus plc), the world’s largest provider of flexible workspace with a network of more than 3,000 locations in over 100 countries. After a career as an Arthur Andersen partner with international management responsibilities, Douglas was active in several start-ups including serving as Chief Financial Officer of Skype from commencement of commercial operations to its sale to Ebay. His daughter has Type 1 Diabetes.

Dr. Hubert Zajicek – Board of Directors

Hubert is co-founder, partner and executive director of Health Wildcatters, a Dallas based seed stage healthcare fund and accelerator. Prior to forming Health Wildcatters he was managing director of medical technology at NTEC (North Texas Enterprise Center for Medical Technology.

Michael Gorton – Board of Directors

A quintessential entrepreneur, mentor, and company builder, Michael Gorton has proven to be a strategic visionary, impacting the telecommunications, music, and healthcare industries. As founding CEO of Teladoc, the world’s leading telehealth company, Michael pioneered a health care model in which members had access to telephonic physicians who could review medical records, treat, and prescribe medication that today supports the new paradigm in health care reform.

Patrick Kinder – Board of Directors

Patrick Kinder currently acts as Chief Operating Officer for Elite Surgical Affiliates, which develops and operates surgical facilities with a focus on orthopedics, spine, and pain.  Patrick is involved in all aspects of Elite Surgical Affiliates’ operations.
