Scott J. Smith

Scott Smith is the founder and CEO of Socrates Health Solutions. In this role, Smith has secured investment capital, recruited a world class Board of Directors, and attracted a stellar executive team. Building on 25+ years of healthcare technology experience, he has driven the development of Socrates’ proprietary technology solutions for non-invasive glucose monitoring, including research and development, international patent filings and approvals, and collaboration with global companies. Scott’s father had Type 1 Diabetes.

Laura Carabello

Laura Carabello, Chief Creative Officer, CPR Strategic Marketing Communications is an entrepreneur and strategy consultant in both domestic and international businesses related to healthcare, life sciences and medical devices, information technology, medical travel and managed care/benefits. Carabello has been instrumental in the growth and development of multiple companies and organizations both domestic and worldwide. She currently serves on the International Committee of the Self Insurance Institute of America (

Founder and principal owner of CPR Strategic Marketing and Communications, (, Carabello has more than 25 years’ experience in business development, marketing, and corporate positioning. As strategy consultant, she has worked with over 1,000 companies, including public and private organizations. She also serves as a strategic advisor to public, private and not-for-profit entities, and has been invited by the US Federal Trade Commission to testify on healthcare advertising and marketing ethics. Carabello was recently tapped to develop special projects for Forbes magazine.

Mayer B. Davidson, M.D.

Professor of Medicine at  Charles Drew University and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Dr. Davidson was President of the American Diabetes Association 1997-1998, has served and continues to serve on many of its national committees, was a member of its Board of Directors for two terms and is the recipient of its Outstanding Physician-Clinician in Diabetes Award. A renowned speaker on type 2 diabetes, he has presented hundreds of lectures nationally and internationally.  He has served on the Editorial Boards of multiple peer reviewed journals and industry publications focused on diabetes clinical practice and care,  is the main author of the textbook, Diabetes Mellitus: Diagnosis and Treatment,  was the Founding Editor of Current Diabetes Reportsand was the Editor-in-Chief of Diabetes Care from 2002 through 2006.

Scott C. Howell

Scott C. Howell, DO, MBA, MPH&TM, CPE is a practicing physician, economist, and population health management expert.  He has led, strategized and advised market-leaders in Medicaid, Medicare Advantage (MA), D-SNP, C-SNP, Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), state exchanges, integrated networks and commercial payers demonstrating significant clinical outcomes.  A U.S. Air Force Reserve Colonel (Ret.) with two decades of public service, he has20+ years Air Force Reserves experience, operationally supporting Fighter Aircraft (F-16s) and Special Operations (Pararescue).

As a long-term T1D, he regularly contributes to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation andwas a former Regional board member.
