A renowned speaker on type 2 diabetes, he has presented hundreds of lectures nationally and internationally. He has served on the Editorial Boards of multiple peer reviewed journals and industry publications focused on diabetes clinical practice and care, is the main author of the textbook, Diabetes Mellitus: Diagnosis and Treatment, was the Founding Editor of Current Diabetes Reportsand was the Editor-in-Chief of Diabetes Care from 2002 through 2006.

A U.S. Air Force Reserve Colonel (Ret.) with two decades of public service, he has20+ years Air Force Reserves experience, operationally supporting Fighter Aircraft (F-16s) and Special Operations (Pararescue).
